The Scale of the Build

Five to Seven Days of Installation

A festival at Space Center Houston does not go up overnight. The HTE crew spent five to seven days on site completing the full installation before the first attendee arrived. Furthermore, the final two days of that build focused specifically on finishing details: pulling out all the bells and whistles, cleaning up material, organizing boneyards, and making sure every inch of the footprint was presentable for the client, the NASA staff, and the thousands of people who would walk through the grounds.

Senior Project Manager Alby Pineda led the build from start to finish. His standard is simple: the site has to be ready not just for the event, but for the scrutiny of a world-class institution. NASA holds everything to a high standard. So does HTE.

What HTE Built

The VIP Tent

The centerpiece of the HTE footprint was a 20 by 100 foot VIP tent with an internal gable configuration. The gable created a custom cutout at the back end of the structure to accommodate a full kitchen setup. Consequently, the VIP area functioned as a complete hospitality environment with enclosed kitchen access, climate control, and dedicated guest space separate from the general festival footprint.

Front of House for the Main Stage

Placement is everything for a front of house structure. The HTE team positioned the front of house tent directly in front of the main stage as required by the production schedule. The Wellby Financial Sponsor Tent

The Wellby Financial sponsor tent required a more complex setup than a standard frame tent. Specifically, HTE installed the structure on an elevated TF floor platform, supported by scaffold underneath to raise the entire footprint and give the sponsor area a premium, elevated feel within the broader festival grounds. The TF flooring system performed exceptionally well and contributed directly to the elevated presentation of the sponsor activation.

Full Turf Installation

HTE turfed the entire parking lot footprint with green turf, transforming what would otherwise be a concrete surface into a festival-ready environment. The combination of turf and rentals created a complete outdoor living room feel across the main festival corridor.

Safety at HTE runs from the first day of installation through the final piece of equipment loaded out during strike. PPE requirements, flagging protocols for pedestrian areas, proper equipment operation, and crew coordination all happen simultaneously on a build this size. Consequently, having clear systems and trained crews in place before the job starts is what allows an installation like Moon 2 Mars to run without incident.

Strike Coordination

The strike at Moon 2 Mars was as coordinated as the build. Multiple systems moving simultaneously, all with the same attention to safety that governed the installation.
